Note 1: There may have been a match played on 09/07/1887 at Queen's Park, Botanical Gardens. A fixture is alluded to in a report of an Australian Rules Football match (Brisbane Courier 11/07/1887).
Note 2: The match played on 06/08/1887 was referred to as the 'First Cup Tie' in the match report. This could be because an earlier unrecorded fixture occurred between St Andrew's and Rangers, and this was the first match of the final series.
The interpretation used here is that the match was the concluding match of the regular season, and because it determined the team to progress to the Cup Final, the match was deemed to be a cup tie by the Brisbane Courier.
