After this season, the Queensland Soccer Federation (QSF) was formed by clubs that broke away from the Queensland Soccer Football Association (QSFA).

Of the ten clubs competing in Division 1 in 1961, only Annerley and YMCA (renamed Triangles) remained with the Association in 1961.
