This was the inaugural season of the Queensland State League, which lasted from 1979 to 1982 and was not revived as a statewide league until 2008.
The South East Queensland League functioned as a reserves division for the State League but did not commence until 1980.
This was the last season goal average was used. Goal difference was used in QSF leagues in 1980 and subsequent seasons.
